Helen Folker began her coaching career at Centennial College in 1982. She was an integral part of the Colts women's volleyball program, guiding her team to reach new levels in the OCAA and CCAA.
During her successful five-year tenure, the Colts women's volleyball team picked up three consecutive OCAA silver medals from 1983-84 to 1985-86. The following year, under Helen's leadership, the 1986-87 Colt's team won the college's first-ever women's volleyball OCAA Championship title. That same year, they went on to be the first-ever Ontario team to achieve a medal at the CCAA Championships, as the Colts brought home a CCAA silver medal.
For her achievements, Folker was selected twice in 1983-84 and 1985-86 as the OCAA Women's Volleyball Coach of the Year.
