OSHAWA, Ont - The Durham Lords women's soccer team defeated the Centennial Colts 5-0 after a dominant performance at Vaso's Field to claim their fourth victory in a row on Thursday night.
The Lords took the lead in the 13th minute when
Cory Lapointe (Whitby, Ont) found
Jacklyn Brzezinski (Ajax, Ont) with a well placed pass, before Bzrzenski deposited her shot into the bottom right corner.
Durham got a second in the 25th minute after some more great passing saw Lapointe tee up
Vanessa Juras (Ajax, Ont) to give the Lords a comfortable lead.
The Colts came into the game more, but Durham's defence was able to steer away any threat that the visitors showed.
Just 10 minutes into the second half, the Lords made it three when
Milinda Roblero (Pickering, Ont) converted a nice run through the middle of the field into another well placed pass to Brzezinski whose shot was too hard for the Colts netminder to keep out, getting her second of the night.
Durham continued to dominate and got a fourth goal in the 63rd minute. This time it was Roblero finishing off the play as the Lords' were proving to be clinical in front of net.
Roblero recorded her second of the night in the 72nd minute when she found some space for herself in the box and beat the keeper at her near post to pull the Lords even further away.
Jenna King (Ajax, Ont) notched her fifth clean sheet of the season.
With the 5-0 win over the Colts, the Lords are now up to 22 points and remain level with the Seneca Sting for first place in the OCAA eastern region.
