Toronto, ON - GBC's Kim Ng Open was full of strong competition consisting of colleges, universities, coaches, clubs and even national players! Our colts got to experience first-hand the intensity of high level badminton. Prarthana Deuba matched up against many strong players in the women's singles main round placing amazingly in 3/4 place, pushing hard and making strides in her mental game. Nicole and Carolyn could not be stopped! They overcame their main-round loss and won the consolation bracket. Carolyn had faced the 1st seed who ended up winning the women's singles title, getting knocked out but giving her a tough game winning 16 points in the first and 17 in the second game! Roney Roy & Prarthana Deuba made it to the mixed doubles consolation finals, placing 2nd after a long day of good badminton! Congratulations colts! We did our best and learned lots throughout this tournament, not only from our games, but also from watching amazing badminton athletes. A special thank you to the organizers of George Brown College and to our guest players Andrew Wilkinson, Nic Chow, San Dang & Thao Le for pairing up with our colts athletes in this weekend's tournament.
