Coach Ta signs Javed Baksh as first recruit for 2018-19

Scarborough, ON  - On the job for less than a month, Head Coach David Ta has wasted little time recruiting star athletes for the 2018-19 OCAA Men's Volleyball season. Ta's first signing as the head of the Colts program is star Right Side Javed Baksh.

Baksh comes to the Colts from the Markham Stingers Volleyball program in the Ontario Volleyball Association. Previously, the 6-foot-1 Right Side suited up for the Pakmen U16 volleyball club. That season, the club took home the 16U Boys Nationals East Championship.

Javed has been described as a great leader by former coaches. Coach Ta and the Colts will look to take the next step in the OCAA with this young class of stars led by Baksh.

"We are very excited to welcome Javed to the Colts program," said Ta of his latest recruit. "Javed brings a wealth of experience and versatility from his days at Pakmen Volleyball Club."

When asked about the opportunity to play post-secondary volleyball, Baksh did not downplay his excitement. " I am grateful for the opportunity Centennial has provided for me," said the rookie Right Side. "I am excited to be apart of this well-managed program that offers a lot to the student-athletes."

The 2018-19 OCAA volleyball schedule will be released later this month.
