Colts Summer Camp FAQ’s

 

Q: Since the facility is inside the college will it be closed for the duration of the camp?

A: No, the facility will not be closed for the duration of the camp, but there will be no interaction between the campers and students. A staff member will always accompany a camper when they are away from the group such, this includes washroom runs, change room visits and trips to the cafeteria.

 Q: My child is fairly new to some sports provided, but he/she loves to play different sports, will campers be divided into different skill level groups?

A: The skill development drills will accommodate those who are beginners and those who are more advanced. All activities are 100% inclusive and is designed to accommodate every child.

Q: My child is 6 years old and will be turning 7 in October, can they still register for camp?

A: The minimum age limit that a child must be during the time of camp is 7 years old. The exception would be if the child is 6 years old and turning 7 in the month of July, during camp season.

Q: What happens if it rains heavily on a day of camp and you are unable to go outside for the outdoor activities? What activities will be provided?

A: if it rains and we are unable to do outdoor activities, we have back activities set for the gymnasium. We will arrange multi-sport activities in the gym which will give campers an opportunity to play different sports in multiple variations.

Q: Will my child have a safe and secure place to put their belongings throughout the camp day, i.e. bags, lunch etc.?

A: Yes, all children’s’ belongings will be kept in a room that can be locked while they are participating in camp activities. The campers will be provided with a water bottle and they are able to fill it up throughout the day with the water fountains inside the facility. Although we do not recommend that campers bring expensive merchandise with them, as Centennial will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Q: What should my child bring to camp daily?

A: Every child should be prepared for a full day of activities, this being said, some items may include: Appropriate clothing i.e. shorts, running shoes and an extra pair of clothes, sunscreen as well as snacks/lunch and medications id applicable. 

Q: Do you accept volunteers? How can I volunteer?

A: Please email Coltscamps@centennialcollege.ca 

Q: Is there medical staff available during camp hours?

A: Yes, there will be a Centennial College athletic therapist on site for any first aid needs, in an emergency crisis the hospital will be contacted immediately.

Q: Will there be opportunities to watch my child play?

A: Yes, our campuses will have designated areas for parents/guardians to participate in watching camp activities.
