No. 13 Women's Basketball Wins Home Opener

ETOBICOKE — The No. 13 Humber women's basketball team opened the 2022 season at home with a win, defeating the Centennial Colts, 95-75.

Miea Campbell-Johnson had a career night to kick off her senior season, recording her 18th career double-double, finishing with a career-high 34 points to go along with 13 rebounds.

The Hawks jumped out to an early lead opening the game on an 8-0 run finishing the first quarter up, 26-19. Kia Watt led the way for Humber in the quarter scoring 11 of her 23 points on the night in the first.

Both teams exchanged baskets for much of the second quarter as Humber struggled to contain the Colts Abigail Baptiste-Phillip who had a double-double in the first half with 20 points and 14 rebounds. The Hawks were able to close out the second quarter strong taking a 44-37 into the break.

Humber took control of the game in the third putting together a 13-2 run to end the quarter to take a 73-52 lead. Miea Campbell-Johnson and Nikki Ylagan combined for 21 of Humber's 28 points in the quarter.

Humber would carry that momentum through the final quarter, coasting the rest of the way taking this one by a score of, 95-75.
