Colts Trying to Extend Streak to Five

Colts Trying to Extend Streak to Five

The Centennial Colts men's basketball team look to keep their unbeaten streak alive as they take on the Seneca Sting Tuesday evening.

Centennial is the only undefeated team remaining in the Eastern Conference after defeating the Fleming Phoenix this past Saturday to go 4-0.

Ranked third in the OCAA power rankings for the second straight week – only behind St. Clair and Mohawk – their early season success can be attributed to an offence that's clicking on all cylinders.

Averaging 88 points per game, the Colts are scoring with efficiency, shooting 51% from the field and 35% from deep.

Leading the charge is Deandre Goulbourne who has come up big for the Colts, especially with early injuries to Husam Shallo and Tayeshaun Crawford.

Goulbourne ranks in the top-10 in the OCAA in scoring, assists, and steals and is shooting well over 50% this year.

Shallo returned in the victory against the Phoenix but didn't score effectively. However, the First Team All-Star was effective everywhere else finishing with seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals.

They'll be taking on the Seneca Sting who defeated the Georgian Grizzlies last week to advance to 2-2 on the season.

They're led by Calvin Ko and Elijah Green who both score over 14 points a game.

Ko ranks fourth in the OCAA in three-point percentage for shooters who take more than five threes per game, converting at nearly a 48% clip.

The Colts will be tested as the Sting last season were named the best defensive team in the Eastern Conference.

Seneca won both matchups last season, so we'll see if Centennial can handle the adversity in what seems to be their first big test of the new season.

Game time is 8PM from Newnham Campus Gymnasium.
