Colts Look for Bounce Back

Colts Look for Bounce Back

By: Zachary Friedman

The Centennial Colts will look to bounce back after a gutting 92-85 loss last Thursday against George Brown. They'll look to beat the Loyalist Lancers who are coming off a 79-72 loss to the Georgian Grizzlies.

Centennial (5-2) have lost back-to-back games since winning their first five of the season, but their loss to George Brown doesn't paint the full picture.

This Centennial team has been hurting and are looking to get healthier. The Colts two top scorers, Deandre Goulbourne and Samuel Wong both missed their last game due to injuries, Tayeshaun Crawford returning from an ankle injury of his own, and Tavon Mars-Buckley battling through a knee concern.

With all those names not at 100%, Centennial's performance against the reigning East division champion George Brown Huskies was exceptional. Zander Wilson and Malik Gibbs both stepped up big and showed the Huskies that the Colts have come to play this season.

Centennial is firmly cementing themselves as one of the top teams in the OCAA.

Loyalist (2-4) have been unlucky this season. With a combined point differential of -9 on the season, the Lancers' record doesn't accurately portray the story. They have let several tight games slip through their fingers, but this is a team that takes almost every game down to the wire.

Jayden Jack leads the charge for the Lancers. The guard is third in the OCAA averaging 22.5 points per game, shooting 50% from the field, and an incredible 45% from three. He also racks up three steals per game on the defensive end.

The Lancers have three players that score in double figures and shoot a decent 42% as a team. While this should be a win for the Colts, they will still have to play the brand of basketball they've been playing throughout the season as the Lancers are no easy task.

The Colts play following the conclusion of the women's game at approximately 3pm on OCAA Live.
