Colts Start Weekend With a Win over Algonquin

Scarborough, ON - The Centennial Colts Men's Basketball team started their final weekend at home of the season with a Saturday afternoon matchup against the Algonquin Wolves at the Athletic and Wellness Centre.

The first quarter was tightly contested between the two teams as the Wolves and Colts would trade points back and forth throughout the quarter.  The Wolves started 3-for-3 from 3-point territory to keep the game close through one quarter as the Colts lead 22-20.

After a quick chat during the changeover to the second quarter head coach Michael Jackman fired up his team, got the motivated to come out working hard on the defensive end and moving like a well-oiled machine on offence.  That they did, as the Colts made mutiple important stops and worked efficiently on offense shooting 44 percent from the field in the quarter taking a 50-39 lead into the half.

More of the same in the second half as the Colts continued to pour it on the Wolves shooting 36 percent from the field and ended up beating the Wolves 109-77.

For the Colts, Husam Shallo put up a 11-13-10 line for a triple-double while Deandre Goulbourne continued his tear, putting up a team-high 21 points.

For the Wolves, Simon Desta ran the offence putting up a game-high 27 while shooting 5-11 from 3-point territory.

It's a short rest for the Colts as they take on La Cite Sunday at 3PM.
