Grizzlies Hand Colts First Loss

Grizzlies Hand Colts First Loss

By: Pedro Casellatto

Scarborough, ON - The Centennial Men's Volleyball team came out a bit flatter than usual and saw their first loss of the season against the Georgian Grizzlies in three straight sets at home. They faced many issues throughout the game, and their defensive system, which is usually their strength, did not work in their favour. The Colts also had issues getting through the Grizzlies block.

The first set started very balanced up until the end, with both teams being very strong on attacking and blocking. With a few unfortunate errors at the end of the set, the Colts let it out of control and were not able to stay with the same energy they started the game with. The Grizzlies did a good job of being consistent and kept playing the same game throughout the entire match.

After that sequence of mistakes, the Colts could not come back to the game at the same pace. The second set was marked by a comfortable control on the Grizzlies' side and the Colts struggling to put in a sequence. Even when serving well, they struggled to keep the ball in the game and did not score on many transition opportunities. The third set was similar, and even though the energy was clear and a 5 point run to tie the set, the Grizzlies ultimately took the third set.

The Colts can redeem themselves on Saturday against the still undefeated Algonquin Wolves. This game is just as important, and the Colts need to bounce back and fight for a good result in order to stay in the top three. It will be their chance to show resilience and the good level of volleyball they have been showing earlier in the season.

Game time from the Athletic and Wellness Centre will be 3PM.

This game also marks our Homecoming game Presented by CCSAI.
