Colts Serve Wolves First Loss

Colts Serve Wolves First Loss

By: Pedro Casellatto

In a game decided in the small details, the Centennial Men's Volleyball team took control and defeated the Algonquin Wolves in four sets. In a balanced game from the first to the last point, the Colts played well, minimizing mistakes and challenging the Wolves with a sideout. Lionnis Salazar led the game with 10 points.

The Colts were very effective in serve-receive, being able to play in-system in most of their attempts. The setter, Michael Matsuto, had a great performance, using the middle attackers regularly and oftentimes leaving the outsides with one blocker. Although they struggled with blocking and defence in the beginning, which led to the loss in the first set, the Colts showed a lot of energy and were able to bounce back. In the third and fourth sets, the Colts' defensive system started to work better, and the Wolves needed more attempts in order to score.

By draining the Wolves' energy, the Colts got another win after the rough loss earlier this week. They were able to stop the Wolves' streak, making it their first loss of the season and creating the chance to start their own winning streak.

The Colts will be back in action this Sunday at 3:00 p.m. to face the La Cite Coyotes at home. With momentum on their side, they are now ready to begin a new streak. Make sure to come to support the Colts in this very important game as the Colts make their way to the top of the standings.
