After an unexpected midweek break, the Lady Colts cruised to a comfortable victory, defeating the St. Lawrence Surge 71 – 57.

It was a great performance from the whole squad, proving lock-down defence when required and a dangerous attack that relied, once again, on Abigail Baptiste-Phillip. The Colts grabbed the lead early in the first and never looked back, leading the Surge in every major statistical category.

With this result, the Colts extend their winning streak to five* despite their short roster, a fact that highlights the work of coach Naomi Mullings and her staff.

"Ever since the tryouts, we bought in into having a short bench, and it's something we talk about every day in practice," said Mullings after the game. "We try to focus on the stuff we do have and not on what we are missing our players are committed to playing out of their regular positions and are trusting our project."

However, the 14-point difference wouldn't be possible without another great performance from the team's MVP so far this season, Abigail Baptiste-Phillip. The Toronto native demolished the Surge with 30 points, 34 rebounds, four assists, 4 steals and 5 blocks.

The Colts will now focus on their next game, on the road, against the Algonquin Wolves on Friday night.
