Colts Close Out Tournament With Tough Loss to Condors

TORONTO - Despite playing an evenly matched game the Centennial Lady colts failed to walk away from the George Brown Invitational with a win after they lost to Conestoga College 2-0 in their final game on Friday.

Miley Decoff was the Colt who had the best chance to convert in the game but her point-blank attempt was steered aside by the opposing keeper in the early going of the match.

Both teams seemed very well matched to begin the game with play going back and forth, with both sides generating a decent amount of offense.

Conestoga seemed to be running into issues transitioning from the standard 11-aside net to the smaller 6-aside one. A large majority of their shots would have been on target during the outdoor season but not on the smaller-sized goals.

Fortunately for the Condors, but not for the Colts, Conestoga found their rhythm and started hitting the net in the latter half of the match which lead to them taking the lead and never looking back.

Their first goal came as a try-on goal was shot up and over the Colts keeper, Jordan Chrons-Slaught.

Despite the best efforts of the Colts the Condors tacked a second goal on not long after, as a close-quarters shot to the short side of Chrons-Slaght to bring the lead up to two.

The Colts tried to rally but just couldn't find the back of the net, team captain Emily Cullen rang one off the post on a long-distance shot but failed to put the Colts on the board.

The game ended with a final score of 2-0 and the Colts finished their tournament with a 0-2-1 record.

Women's Coach, Rich Hirst's comments on the tournament:

"The team put in the work and improved with each game. We were pleased with the development of the principles of play and are confident they will continue to progress as they learn more about 6v6. It was an excellent measurement of current fitness levels and an opportunity to assess our individual development since the end of the fall season."
