Colts Face the Phoenix Trying to Continue Momentum

By: Pedro Casellatto

Our Centennial Women's Soccer team is back at Progress Field after an away game last Friday. This Wednesday at 6 p.m., the Colts will be facing the Fleming Phoenix. Currently placed third with one less game than the leaders, this game will be crucial to keeping the Colts in the fight to stay at the top as they already guaranteed their spot in the playoffs.

The Colts are in a sequence of positive results, and this game will be a great preparation for what is about to come. After the matchup against the Phoenix, the Colts will be facing the Durham Lords and the Seneca Sting, both directly above them in the standings. So far, we have noticed an important presence of the midfield players in the Colts' games. Two of those players, Emily Cullen and Vanessa Lima, are in the top five assists leaders. Additionally, the goalkeeper Jordyn Chrons-Slaght has only allowed two goals in the season, which also puts her in the top five.

The opponent this time, the Fleming Phoenix, is playing to get a spot in the playoffs, as they are currently placed 9th. They will have to not only get a win against the Colts but also win their next two games to have a chance to make it into playoffs.

It will be a very important game for both teams, and we expect to see them playing accordingly. We look forward to seeing how the Colts will perform and how they will manage to keep their minds in this game with such an important week coming up.
