Colts Sweep Away Phoenix

By: Pedro Casellatto

Peterborough, ON - The Centennial Women's Volleyball team played well and got another victory against the Fleming Phoenix in Peterborough. They were able to get over the last result and play their best game of the season so far. The Colts started very aggressively and kept the energy until the very last point, closing the game in three sets straight.

With the setter, Sophia Clement, back on the court, the Colts were able to pace up their offensive system and run aggressive plays. She had a positive performance in her first game of the season, being named the player of the game. The outside hitter, Jaquie Ronquillo, led the team in the first set, scoring in important moments and keeping the Colts ahead on the scoreboard. In the first and second sets, the Colts kept control and closed out the set with a 12-point lead.

At the beginning of the third set, the Phoenix challenged the Colts with good serves and a compact defensive system, making the Colts work hard to earn their points. However, the Colts' block was effective and crucial to maintaining their impressive performance. With a 10-point lead, they closed the game in the third set and brought home another win.

They will be back in action this Sunday afternoon when they host the Georgian Grizzlies. We look forward to seeing their performance in such an important game. Come out to support the Colts at the Athletic and Wellness Centre.
