Colts Drop 5-Set Thriller to Grizzlies

Colts Drop 5-Set Thriller to Grizzlies

By: Pedro Casellatto

Scarborough, ON - It was a true battle, but the Centennial Women's Volleyball team (2-2) could not stop the Georgian Grizzlies (2-3) and lost their second game of the season in five sets. The Colts showed a lot of efficiency on defence, which kept them in the game for most of the time, but Georgian was serving well, forcing out-of-system attempts for most of the game.

The first set was very balanced, and the Colts' defensive system made the difference in the game. They could keep that ball up and challenge the Grizzlies' patience until they made a mistake. After losing the first set, the Grizzlies came out more aggressive for the second and were able to take the lead and tie the game up. Continuing the great performance, the Grizzlies also took the third set, showing a lot of efficiency in attacking.

The Colts had to adapt and in the fourth set, they came out focused on offence and served really well to challenge the Grizzlies' reception. With a great service run by CL Viloria, the Colts closed the fourth set with a 10-point lead. They came out to the tiebreak with the same energy and initially had a comfortable lead. The Grizzlies, with a great attacking system, fought back and picked up on the scoreboard, closing the tiebreak and the game.

The Colts will be back in action at home this Saturday when they play the Algonquin Wolves at 1PM.

This game will be the Remembrance Day game as well as our Homecoming Game brought to you by CCSAI.

We want to thank the Georgina Riptide Volleyball Club for coming out to support the Colts!
