King City, Ontario - This past weekend, the 2023 cross-country season officially got underway! Teams from across Ontario descended on King City, sizing up their competition at the season-opening Seneca XC meet!

Representing the women for the Colts in the 6km race was first-year police foundations student Skye Pinto. In her first cross-country race since grade seven, Skye expertly tackled the uneven terrain and the steep, unforgiving hills to place 6^th overall in the women's individual standings with a time of 28:13. A very exciting first race for Skye!

Up next was the Colts men's team who put on a great show in the 8km race placing 5^th overall out of 12 in the team standings. Leading the men's team was the talented Irvin Omere with an exciting performance placing 6^th individually with a time of 29:09. Next came Kyle Jackson, running his first-ever cross-country race and placing an impressive 20^th overall in a time of 31:42. Then, making his return to cross country running, came Ben Yalin; with his usual determination he managed to grab the 24^th spot with a time of 32:07. Rounding out the men's and helping to clinch the teams 5^th place finish was Jones Chung coming in 31^st position in a time of 32:25.
