SCARBOROUGH, ON – Centennial Men's Basketball Program would like to congratulate two former guards, Khaleel Sutherland and Daniel Humphrey, on their commitment to Head Coach Etienne Jacquet's Algoma Thunderbirds for this upcoming 2019-20 season.

Sutherland played from 2016-19 and graduated from the three-year Business Operation Management program. Humphrey played from 2016-18 and graduated a year prior from the two-year Health and Fitness Promotion program. Both will be pursuing undergraduate degrees in Business Administration, minoring in Marketing.

Both players expressed gratitude to Centennial for helping them set the foundation for success. "Centennial College was a great-post secondary foundation, equipping me with academic and athletic skills that I will continue to develop in the future," said Sutherland. Humphrey echoed the praise: "From day one, I was introduced to an athletic team that was truly there for my success both academically and athletically."

Sutherland says that one of the core values he developed at Centennial was "mental resilience," while Humphrey says Centennial taught him to manage himself physically and mentally -- maintaining his body throughout the season and managing his time to find on-and-off court success.

Both formed life-long memories as a Colt. Sutherland fondly remembers the bus rides to away games and Humphrey remembers his first season when the OCAA championships was hosted by Centennial.

They now look forward to growing as individuals. Sutherland is excited "to compete against some of the best basketball teams in the country" at the university level (USPORTS). Humphrey looks forward to being able to "come into my own person in a new space and to live outside of my comfort zone."

Trevor Challenger, Colts Head Coach, praised Sutherland and Humphrey.

"Both Khaleel and Daniel were great student-athletes and represented the Colts the last few years in a professional manner," said Challenger. "They worked extremely hard every day in practice and were positive teammates in the locker room."

Centennial Men's Basketball wishes them all the best in their Algoma University careers.
