Colts Clash with the Titans: Centennial Faces Off Against Defending Champs St. Clair Saints in OCAA Men's Basketball Battle

The Centennial Colts Men's Basketball team is on the road for their quarterfinal matchup when they play Defending OCAA champion St.Clair on Saturday, February 23, at 6:00 PM.

The Colts are coming off a solid appearance in the play-in round against Fanshawe last week during the Colts Super Playoff Sunday. Centennial beat Fanshawe 86-73 to clinch their spot in the quarterfinals. St.Clair beat La Cite by 40 points in their play-in matchup.

Centennial and St.Clair had strong seasons; Centennial finished fourth with a record of 13-5, and St.Clair finished first in the West with a record of 15-3. Both teams deserve to be in the playoffs, and there is no doubt that this will be a fun game to watch.

The OCAA East Men's Rookie of the Year Tavonn Mars-Buckley will be looking to prove why he earned this top award when they hit the court in this game. Tavonn wasn't the only Centennial player who was recognized with an end-of-season award, Deandre Goulborne made first-team Eastern All-Star. Cementing why he's an All-Star this year, Deandre had an excellent all-round performance in his last game with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Centennial will need to contain the OCAA Rookie of the Year, Andrew Loyuk and OCAA Player of the Year, Chad Vincent-Simon. During his rookie campaign, Loyuk had the fourth most assists during the regular season with 77, while averaging just under 12 points per game. The player of the year, in his 5th and final year of eligibility, Vincent-Simon was a stud, averaging 18 PPG while shooting over 50% from the field, 42% and almost 80% from the free-throw line.

The winner of this match will move on to the final four and face the winner of Mohawk and George Brown.
