Lady Colts Women's Basketball Win 2 in a Row

The Colts Ladies Basketball team made good last night on defending the stable against the impending invaders from George Brown College (GBC).  The GBC Huskies had defeated the Colts by a score of 87-78 the last time Centennial travelled to their cross town rivals. This time however, the outcome was to be different. The Colts wanted to make good and delivering some retribution, and that they did winning the game by a score of 76-69.

From the start of the game the Colts jumped out in front and kept things like that all the way throughout the match. By the end of the 2nd quarter the Colts had a small margin of a lead by 4 points leading the game 12-8. Bethany Miller had hit twice for 5 and Anna Casado had another 4 on the quarter.

In the 2nd quarter things began to heat up with more physical fast play from both teams with the Colts ending the half up 36-24. Building upon the comfortable lead the Lady Colts netted a whopping 24 points. Kalya Higgins added 3 baskets for 6 points and Karmealia Turner had 4 pts.

By the end of the 3rd the colts had climbed to 55 points while GBC only had 40. It was now time to finish them off. However

Kiyann Grimaldo from the Huskies had other ideas as she put up big numbers in the 4th to score 12 points in the quarter and led George Brown to help them score 29 points while the Colts could only muster up 21. She ended up with 22 pts on the game as the game's high scorer. However, it was not enough as the Colts took the win. From Centennial the major contributors were Yasmeen Smith who had 15 pts, Kayla Higgins had 14, and Ana Casado Simon-Talero contributed 11 points.

Next up for the (4-3) Colts is a home stance against the (2-3) Seneca Sting to be held on Friday November 25th, 2016 at the Progress Campus AWC inside the DEL Gym. Tip off time is set for 6pm.
