Colts Battle Lions in Crossover

Colts Battle Lions in Crossover

By: Jack Middleton

The Centennial Women's Basketball team will travel to Sarnia to take on the Lambton Lions in the first round of cross over playoff matchups on Saturday February 17.

Finishing with a 3-11 record, the Colts face a tall task in taking on the #1 seeded Lambton Lions who finished with a 14-2 record.

The Colts come into the game having grown their game to a different level, playing better on both sides of the ball, buying into coach Naomi Mullings systems, and have improved throughout the semester.  The Lions on the other hand have been dominant from start to finish.  Averaging 73 points per game, while shooting 37 percent from the field, the Lions pose a threat to anyone in their way.

Players to Watch

If the Colts plan on the upset, look to Mikaela Hawkins to lead the charge.  Hawkins has been instrumental for the Colts, leading the team with 11 points per game while posting 4.5 rebounds per game and 3.5 assists.

For the Lions, it's a 3-headed monster in terms of scoring.  Breanna Pretty, Brett Fischer and Maddy Bishop all post double digits in scoring and have carried their team throughout the regular season.

Game time from the Cestar Group Athletics & Fitness Complex is 2PM.
