SCARBOROUGH, ONT.- Wednesday's matchup featured a battle between the Centennial Colts and Loyalist Lancers, the remaining two teams who have yet to secure a win for the season. Despite Centennial having more control of the game and in shots on goal (29-10), the score ended in a 1-1 draw, resulting in both teams gaining a point and are now 0-3-1 on the season.

Lancers goalkeeper Courtney Bolch was spectacular in net, stopping 28 out of 29 shots, keeping her team in the game. Jessica Friend, for Centennial, and Taylor Wightman, for Loyalist, scored.

Both teams had chances to open up the score in the first half. Centennial had a goal waved off in the 13th minute as Sayla Peters was offside while Friend had three chances on net during the 20th minute with one shot hitting the post and the other two stopped by Bolch.

Loyalist had a glorious chance in the 34th minute to get on the board but Rachel Cole's shot hit the post and Sabrina Rizzo robbed the ensuing rebound attempt from Adrien Warren at the goalline to keep the game scoreless at the half.

Centennial finally broke through in the 50th minute after a nice give-and-go sequence from Friend and Peters, in which Friend then fired a strike to the lower right corner past a diving Bolch.

But that lead was short-lived as Cole then fired a pass to Wightman, who then beat her defender and sent a left footed strike past Rizzo to even the score, less than a minute after Friend's goal.

The Colts desperately tried to retake the lead but could not solve Bolch… or the post. Caitlin Cosgrove had one last chance to change the outcome in stoppage time but hit the post yet again as time ran out.

As expected, it was a battle until the very end. With high hopes, the Colts have eight more chances in the regular season to come out with wins.
