SCARBOROUGH, ONT.- After three straight encouraging performances for the Centennial Colts women's soccer team, they came into Tuesday night's game, facing another tough matchup in the Durham Lords.

The Colts were looking to shock the OCAA and pull off an upset against the Lords. Durham, however, had other ideas.

The Lords (4-2-1) opened up the scoring 54 seconds in and never looked back, defeating Centennial (0-6-1), 3-0, at the Progress Turf Field.

Striker Cory Lapointe (1"), midfielder Vanessa Juras (35"), and defender Bailey Colangelo (44") scored for Durham as they outpaced Centennial, notably in shots (18-7) and in corner kicks (8-0).

Sabrina Rizzo made 15 saves for Centennial. Meanwhile, for Durham, Jenna King (1st half) and Milinda Roblero (2nd half) combined to make five saves in total for the clean sheet.

Overcast clouds hung over the field as the two teams started kickoff. Lightning may have very well struck given how quickly Durham opened up the scoring as Lapointe's low shot found the bottom left corner less than a minute into the match.

The score remained that way until the 35th minute. After Faby Monteiro was given a yellow card for taking down Roblero, Juras stepped up and curved a free kick over Rizzo to extend their lead.

The Lords then increased their lead to three just before the first half ended after Colangelo fired past a rebound off of a corner kick.

"That may have been our worst first half of the year," Diarmuid O'Connor, Colts Head Coach, said.

Centennial upped the ante in the second half, desperately trying to get on the board, generating two great chances. But Roblero stopped Jessica Friend's shot in the 50th minute and Kayla Lui's attempt in the 64th minute went high to the left.

One player that was a bright spot in Centennial's loss was striker Trynelle Thomas as she filled in capably, increasing the pace for the Colts offensively in the second half.

Despite their winless streak this season being extended to seven games, Centennial looks to bounce back during the weekend against the St. Lawrence Vikings.
