Colts Drop Surge on Road

Kingston, ON - The Centennial Colts Women's Basketball team beat the St. Lawrence Surge 58-48 on Friday Night.

The Colts were led by Mikaela Hawkins with a team high 18 points and 11 Steals to lead the charge for the Colts.

A feeling out process began the game for both teams in the first quarter as both the Surge and the Colts brought a different defensive system than the first game against each other back in November.  The Colts were able  to force 14 turnovers in the quarter and were able to work well offensively to take a 17-11 lead into the second quarter.

Much of the same in the second quarter as 14 more turnovers by the Surge handed the ball back to the Colts consistently and the Colts were able to capitalize.  Tara Dowrich lead the way in the quarter with 8 points as the Colts led 33-20 at half.

The Surge came out firing on all cylinder is the second half as Ella Doull tookover the quarter, scoring 10 of her game-high 21 points to cut the lead for the Colts down to 5.

Nothing stopped the Colts as a strong offensive 4th quarter would seal the deal for the Colts taking this one by a score of 58-48.

The Colts moved to 3-10 on the season with their final game of the regualr season coming this Friday at George Brown.
