Colts Get Back on Track

By: Pedro Casellatto

Scarborough, ON - The Centennial Men's Basketball team got another win, this time against the Loyalist Lancers. Playing at home, the Colts had a strong performance on defence and gave the Lancers no chance to find a good pace.

In the first quarter, the Colts started behind, but after many consecutive rebounds, they picked up, and the game became tied. The first quarter ended with 20 points on each side of the scoreboard. The Colts came back for the second quarter with a lot of energy and had a comfortable lead in the beginning. The Lancers didn't seem discouraged and kept playing a consistent game. Halfway through the second quarter, Deandre Goulbourne for the Colts and Jayden Jack for the Lancers had 10 points each. The Colts got to halftime with a 14-point lead.

In the third quarter, the Colts started with momentum on their side. They were having a great performance, with a very effective defence and a deadly attack, opening a 23-point lead. Zander Wilson, with nine rebounds and 12 points, was dominating the paint, making it the first double-double in the game. Malik Gibbs had a 75 percent 3-point rate, leading the Colts with 18 points.

The Colts will be back in action this Sunday, at home, against the St. Lawrence Surge. We hope they keep their early season momentum and get another win to get back to the top of the standings.
