The Centennial Colts women's basketball team will look to get their first win of the season as they head on the road to take on the Seneca Sting.

The Colts are off to an 0-2 start this season with losses to Georgian College and Algonquin.

The crux of the Centennial's early season struggles has been the offence, averaging less than 40 points a game. With no player on the roster shooting above 37%, head coach Naomi Mullings will have to retool this offence and find a way to get points on the board.

They'll be facing off against a Seneca Sting team that is ranked ninth in the OCAA. With a 2-1 record on the season, the Sting suffered their first loss last week to the Georgian Grizzlies.

Last season Seneca was victorious in both of their meetings against the Colts winning those games by a combined 20 points. Centennial's last victory against the Sting came back on February 13, 2022.

Centennial has finished ahead of Seneca two of the last three seasons, however the Sting have some talent on their roster that changes the dynamic of the matchup.

Emily Balkissoon, who made the OCAA All-Rookie team last season, is off to a strong start offensively averaging 14 points a game, hitting nearly 3 three-pointers each time out.

She's joined by Tianna Leveridge, a member of last year's Second Team All-Stars. Leveridge makes her presence known on both sides of the floor averaging over 10 points and pulls down eight rebounds per game. Defensively, she'll come up with three takeaways a game.

If there is an Achilles' heel to this Sting team it's ball control. With Leveridge averaging close to six turnovers a game and Balkissoon averaging three of her own, the Sting give the ball away around 25 times a game.

Should the Colts take advantage of those mistakes, it may carve them a path to victory.
