Lords Drop Colts

Lords Drop Colts

By: Pedro Casellatto

Oshawa, ON - Despite the effort, the Centennial Women's Volleyball team could not stop the Durham Lords at their home. In three sets, the Lords played consistently, they challenged the Colts especially in the attack with a collective kill percentage of .389.

The Colts started the game a little slow, something that has happened in a few matches already and they have been struggling with it. The lords took the chance to get ahead and close the first set quickly with comfortable gap of 12 points. One set down, the Colts got together and found a way to fought back in the second set, being more effective on their opportunities and converting more points. Kaiyra De la Ronde and Jaque Ronquillo were key for that reaction, scoring in important moments.

Despite the effort, the Colts could match the level of volleyball the Lords showed, losing the second set with a smaller difference. They came back for the final set and performed well, but it seemed like the energy was down. With an aggressive serve run which generated many attacking opportunities, Aislinn Pedersen undermined the Colts offensive system, and helped the Lords to close the third set and the game.

After the last road trip of this calendar year, the Colts will be hosting two games before the winter break. The first one will be against the strong Loyalist Lancers, who are currently sitting at the top of the standings. We hope the Colts can recover from that result and fight their way back to the top.
