Colts Athletics Welcomes Mykaela Volpe as New Assistant Coach for Women’s Soccer Team

Colts Athletics and Women's Soccer are thrilled to announce the addition of Mykaela Volpe to the Women's Soccer staff as their new Assistant Coach. With her extensive experience as  a player and a coach, Coach Volpe is poised to bring a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the team.

Coach Volpe boasts a robust academic background, holding both a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University. She recently enhanced her educational credentials by completing a Master of Education, underscoring her commitment to academic and athletic excellence.

As a former student-athlete, Mykaela was a standout goalkeeper for the Nipissing Lakers. Her leadership on the field was evident as she captained the team and earned U-Sport First-Team All-Canadian Honours, a testament to her skill and dedication. Following her university career, she showcased her talents in the League 1 Premier League, playing for Simcoe Rovers, Electric City FC, and FC Oshawa.

Transitioning seamlessly from player to coach, Mykaela continued her involvement in soccer with the Oshawa Kicks and Nike Soccer Camps. Her coaching journey progressed as she took on the role of Goalkeeper Coach at FC Durham Academy, where she further honed her coaching skills and developed a reputation for her effective and passionate coaching style.

"We are incredibly excited to welcome Mykaela Volpe to Colts Country," said the Colts Women's Soccer Head Coach Rich Hirst. "Her impressive background as both a player and a coach, combined with her dedication to the sport, makes her a perfect fit for our program. We look forward to the impact she will have on our players and the overall success of our team."

The Colts have again brought in a talented crop of recruits for the upcoming 2024 season. Coach Volpe, will be a welcome addition, stepping in for former Assistant Coach Jessica Friend, who departed the team in the spring to pursue her Law career.
