Colts Look to Build Momentum Against Cougars

By: Zachary Friedman

The Centennial Colts are back on the diamond Sunday afternoon after starting their season with a win Friday evening. After defeating the Seneca Sting 11-9 in extra innings, the Colts look to build on a strong first game when they take on the Sault Cougars. "The ability to put the ball in play is fantastic one through nine this year," said Colts head coach Ben Anderson.

That's exactly what the Colts did on Friday, totalling 12 hits in the game, with only two players not recording hits. Most notably, new recruit Luke Ciavoliello went 4-for-5 with 5 RBIs in the opener. The Colts' next challenge comes against the Sault Cougars. After finishing the 2022 season tied for last with a 2-16 record, the Cougars have revamped the roster, looking to turn things around. Of the 23 players rostered, 15 are playing their first season with the Cougars.

The Colts and Cougars square off Sunday afternoon at Neilson Park with the first game scheduled for noon, and game two at 2 p.m.
