Colts and Huskies Split Double Header

Game 1

Game 1 of the doubleheader from Christie Pits gets off to a hot start for the Colts as RBI singles from Josh Savoie, Kevin Akiyama and Robbie Salerno in the top of the 1st would give the Colts an early lead. In the top of the 4th, Josh Savoie lined a screamer to the third basemen, who errored on the play, allowing two runners to score on the play, extending the lead to 5-0. 

Savoie was back in the action in the top of the 6th as he doubled to the right-center field gap to score Riley Briggs making it 6-0. Owen Nichols triples with the bases loaded in the top of the seven to put the final nail in the coffin of the George Brown Huskies. Liam Oates comes as advertised, throwing a 67-pitch complete game shutout as the Colts take game 1 by a score of 9-0.

Game 2

Game 2 pins Centennial's Keito Shimabukuro against George Browns, Finlay Butler. Colts get off to another hot start in the top of the 1st as Kevin Akiyama singles to bring in a run. In the bottom of the 2nd, George Brown's Braeden Tremblay doubles, scoring 2 to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead. In the next inning, the Huskies extended their lead on a solo home run by Nick Manoukarakis. The Colts stormed back as Kevin Akiyama plated his 2nd RBI of the game on a single to make it a 3-2 game. In the following inning, Owen Nichols hits a ground ball to the third baseman that is bobbled and scores a run as the Colts tied it a 3. In the bottom of the 6th, the Huskies broke the game wide open, scoring seven runs in the inning. The Huskies would go on to take game two 10-3.

 

The next two game for the Colts comes Saturday, September 23rd, at home against the Fanshawe Falcons.
