Baseball is Ready to Start Off Swinging

School has started and the dugout is waiting — it's time for the Colts to take the diamond once again.

The first pitch of Centennial's fourth baseball season will fly on Friday at 5 p.m. against Seneca.

With 11 new on the roster, and new depth — especially in the bullpen — the players and coaches are excited for what this season has to offer.

This team may be young, but that doesn't mean it isn't ready. With rising stars from Japan, students with experience, and fresh meat in almost every position, the Colts are ready to play ball.

During summer training camp the team got to know each other better, built rapport and chemistry, and started working towards their game plan for the rest of the season.

Defence was a key focus, along with keeping pitchers healthy long enough to throw out a pitch in the regular season. The coaching staff worked diligently to break the pre-season injury curse that's plagued the bullpen for the past few years.

Even though it's a young team hitting the diamond, they still have strong leadership in returning captains Joshua Savoie, Owen Nichols, and Liam Oates.

Last year the Colts lost 9-8 against Humber in the OCAA Championship semi-finals. The Hawks have been one of the most elite programs in the OCAA for years and the Colts have aspirations to finally take them down and play for medal contention.

Opening with a double header, they'll have the chance to show off the 2024 Colts in front of a home crowd.

Action starts 5 p.m., Friday at Neilson Park in Scarborough, game 2 to follow at 7PM.
