Colts Start Season with Loss to George Brown Huskies in Soccer

By Pedro Casellatto

It was a battle, but the Colts fell to the Huskies in a six-goal game in their season opener. The Colts' young backline was not able to stop the fast-paced offence from George Brown, which led to two goals, the first one scored by Yonis Jama in the first 5 minutes of the game with the second by Matthias Broomes a few minutes later. The Colts were left with no option but to tighten up, holding the Huskies back for the rest of the first half.

However, George Brown came back for the second half and continued their press. Gianfranco Gileppo and Adam Wood netted two more goals for the Huskies at the beginning of the first half. Konstantine Mpougiot scored for the Colts in the 64th minute, at which point the Colts' offence looked to show some life, but their efforts were dashed as Jesse Codron sealed the game with the Huskies' 5th goal in the 90th minute.

The Colts are looking to show that they worked together as a team in the pre-season against the Cambrian Golden Shield this Saturday at 2:30 PM for their second away game this season.
