The Centennial Men's Soccer team bids farewell to the 2024 season after a quarterfinal loss to the Humber Hawks. Despite the early playoff exit, this season marked a significant turnaround for the Colts. Following a challenging run of draws, the team rallied to push through the round of 16 and secure a spot among the final eight teams.
Though the season ended with mixed emotions—disappointment at falling short but immense pride in the effort—the hard work from players, coaches, and staff made this a memorable year. The arrival of a talented recruiting class, combined with the experience of returning players, laid the groundwork for future success. Head Coach Michele Lattavo's efforts to build a strong foundation for the program were evident throughout the season.
In terms of standings, the Colts held the top spot for several rounds, vying for home playoff games. However, after some tough results, they slipped a few positions and were forced to play on the road. Despite this, a few standout players earned spots on the OCAA All-Star teams. Duarte Ventura-Oliveira, in his first outdoor season with the Colts, made the First-Team All-Star. Winger Adonis Botsinis, defenders Oluwasunmibola Oye and Diego Farias, midfielder Aziz Traore, and goalkeeper Joshua Naraine were all named to the Second-Team All-Star, reflecting their key contributions.
While a quarterfinal loss wasn't the desired outcome, it doesn't define the season. This year was just the beginning of something bigger. As the team regroups for the upcoming indoor season and looks ahead to next year, they'll carry with them the lessons learned and the determination to reach the championships.
To the players, coaches, and everyone involved this season—thank you for the memories, hard work, and heart. The Centennial Men's Soccer team has made its mark, and the best is yet to come.
