The Centennial Colts put up a worthy challenge against a strong opponent Sunday afternoon but were unable to come out on top in the end as they lost 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-25) to the visiting Canadore Panthers.

Centennial fought bravely against a formidable Panthers squad, who improved to a record of 7-1 on the season. The Colts fell to 2-6.

The game was defined by netplay on both sides. Centennial's strong attack was there for them, leading the way, as it has all season, but it was met by Canadore's intimidating net defence. The Panthers, who averaged more than 4 blocks per set in the regular season, showed off their net presence again on Sunday, and it was a major key for them in capturing the victory.

Serving woes also haunted the Colts, as they were sometimes unable to capitalize on Canadore mistakes due to missed opportunities in the service game. The Colts recorded 15 service errors over the 3 sets, compared to just 1 ace.

Overall, it was a game for the Colts to be proud of, as they hung with one of the premier teams in the OCAA. The team put together some stretches of terrific volleyball, which will surely be something that coach Adriana Bento and her staff will try to build on heading into the playoffs.
