Grizzlies Drop Surging Colts

Grizzlies Drop Surging Colts

By: Pedro Casellatto

Barrie, ON - The Centennial Men's Volleyball team took their second loss of the season against the Georgian Grizzlies. With great hustle, they tried their best to keep the game up. However, it did not seem to be their day.

In the first set, the Colts were able to play defence well, keeping the ball in many of the attempts made by the Grizzlies. But even with the ball up, the transition did not work that well, and many errors on the Colts' side allowed the Grizzlies to be successful in the first set. With a small change in the lineup, they came in for the second set with new energy. The defensive system, which was already working well, improved and generated more opportunities for counterattacks. Although the Colts had more chances, the Grizzlies' game was well-connected, and they took the set.

In the third set, the Colts came in with a lot of energy. They were playing well and stopping the Grizzlies on the outside with a consistent defensive system and an aggressive block. However, the Grizzlies' middle blockers showed a lot of power, played a big role, and helped their team to close the third set and the game.

The Colts had an overall positive performance but could not keep the momentum at the end of the sets. They will be looking for redemption this weekend in another away game against the Canadore Panthers.
