Colts Women's Basketball Earns Key Win Over Huskies, 62-56, to Start 2025 Strong

SCARBOROUGH ONTARIO - The Centennial Colts Women's Basketball team bounced back in a big way to get their first win of 2025, completing the season sweep over the George Brown Huskies with a 62-56 victory. The win was a much-needed boost as the Colts returned to homecourt, where the support of their loyal fans played a crucial role in bringing the team across the finish line.

Leading the charge for the Colts was Zhane Michael, who delivered an all-around performance with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Michael's consistent scoring and playmaking were key in securing the win. Aliana Dominguez also had an impressive outing, scoring 17 points and showing her sharpshooting abilities with a scorching 5-11 (45%) performance from beyond the arc.

Daneika Walker was just one point shy of a double-double, finishing with 9 points and 10 rebounds. Her presence on the boards was vital in controlling the game's tempo and giving the Colts extra possessions. As a team, the Colts' defense was the true difference-maker, as they forced the Huskies into committing 22 turnovers. The aggressive defensive pressure disrupted the Huskies' rhythm and kept them from gaining any momentum.

With this win, the Colts move forward with confidence and momentum as they prepare for their next home game. The team will look to build on this victory as they host the St. Lawrence Surge on January 25. Fans are encouraged to continue their support as the team works to make 2025 a successful year.
