Colts Defend OCAA Lead Against Golden Shield

Scarborough, ON – It's home game time. After nearly two weeks on the road, the Centennial Women's Soccer team returns home looking to continue their undefeated run. This Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Colts Pitch, Progress Campus, they will face the Cambrian Golden Shield for the second time this season. The Colts previously travelled to Sudbury earlier this month and secured a win.

The Colts have had positive results, allowing only one goal in their last matchup against the Seneca Sting. They currently sit in first place in the league, tied on points with the Sting and the Algonquin Wolves. This game presents an opportunity to take another step toward securing their spot in the upcoming playoffs.

The first matchup between these two teams was initially a slow-paced game. Fourth-year captain Emily Cullen mentioned that the team is looking to avoid that this time. "Sometimes, we won't be able to afford a slow start; we need to come out aggressive from the first to the last minute," said Cullen. Coach Rich's instructions are clear: pass the ball efficiently and quickly take control of the game's tempo.

The Golden Shield, currently the visiting team, has also had positive results. They sit in fourth place, with the same number of wins as the other top teams, but have played two more games. Coming off a loss to the Seneca Sting, they will be looking to redeem themselves and secure a positive result before returning home.

Make sure to arrive early and secure your spot to cheer on the Colts as they work to maintain their momentum in the final rounds of the regular season. If you can't make it to the game, you can tune in to the Colts' YouTube channel to watch the live stream.
