SCARBOROUGHSophia Clement had 14 assists, eight digs, two kills, and an ace as the Centennial Colts lost 3-0 to the Durham Lords in OCAA women's volleyball action on Saturday.

Clement led her Centennial (2-4) squad against the undefeated Lords, who improved to 9-0 with the win.

Alia Ricciardelli finished with seven kills and Fatemeh Rouhi had six kills and three digs for the Colts in the loss. Isabella Heath and Symphony Kwong chipped in for Centennial on the defensive side with a combined 17 digs.

The Lords were led by Jessica Joensen, who had 18 kills and an ace in the match.

The first set started with the two teams trading points, but Durham went on a run to take control of the opening frame — forcing a Centennial timeout after going up 11-3.

The Colts responded well out of the timeout, matching the Lords for the following eight points, but the Durham attack proved too much for the home side to open the match, winning 25-12.

Arianna Supersad helped slow that Lords' attack with two blocks early for Centennial, while Durham's Joensen had six kills.

The Colts came into the second and battled the Lords early and took an 11-8 lead midway through the set.

After falling behind, the visitors started to slowly work their way back. Durham went on a 9-3 run to take a lead of its own and force a Colts timeout.

Despite a solid response from Centennial, the Lords held on to take a 2-0 lead with a 25-19 set win.

The third set opened the same way as the first two — with back-and-forth action as both sides tried to gain control.

The Colts took the first multi-point lead of the set, going up 9-7, forcing a Durham timeout.

Out of the timeout, the tight match resumed. With Centennial pushing to force a fourth set, they were able to hold onto their lead as the Lords pushed back. After falling behind 17-14, Durham went on a 3-0 run to tie the set, but the Colts responded with a 2-0 run of their own.

With an extra set hanging in the balance, the Lords went a 5-1 run after falling behind to claim a 25-23 set win and a 3-0 match victory.
