Colts Close Out Year Against Phoenix

By: Pedro Casellatto

The Centennial Women's Volleyball team is back in action for the last game of 2023. They will be hosting the second matchup with the Fleming Phoenix this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Athletic & Wellness Centre. The first match between the two teams resulted in a win in three sets for the Colts.

The Colts are coming off a great performance against the former top-seated Loyalist Lancers, giving them their second loss of the season. Now, the focus is on the Phoenix, and this result will be key for the Colts to get into the top four again. The last result must be used as a momentum boost, which they need to bring for the next matchups. CL Viloria, the scoring leader in the OCAA with 134 kills, mentioned that the Loyalist game was good to shake off and remind themselves of the potential they have as a team. "We were able to address the issues and get back into an important game, which gave us a lot of confidence," said Viloria.

The newly rebranded Fleming Phoenix has been struggling to get their first win of the season. They will use their last game of the year as motivation to start building momentum and climb their way up to an eventual spot in the playoffs. They will be counting on the experience of third-year players in addition to the enthusiasm of their rookies to win away from home.

This will be a great opportunity for the Colts to get closer to the top four and start 2024 with a different look. With great chances of hosting the first game of the playoffs, the Colts will be looking to get every point they can to achieve their objective.

Game time from the Athletic and Wellness Center Comes at 1PM
