New Season with new aspirations

New Season with new aspirations

It's that time of year again. The grass is freshly cut, the diamond has been tended to perfection, and the Centennial Colts men's baseball team is back in action.

Colts baseball's fourth season officially kicks off in Ajax Friday afternoon with a doubleheader against Seneca Polytechnic.

Coach Ben Anderson feels the team has fixed some issues from last season, and is confident in their improvements heading into the season opener. Anderson says "We like the balance, we like the depth, and things are looking up."

Seven recruits have been added along with four new players at tryouts. The new players have impressed the coaches and veteran players at training camp.

Centennial's speed on the basepaths and their power at the plate are strengths, and plan to use it to their advantage. A standout realization from training camp was how fast the team is from batters one through nine.

Centennial finished the season with an 11-7 record in 2022 and qualified for the OCAA Baseball Championship for the first time in the program's history, finishing 4th. They look to build off that success.

Coach Peter Samonas wants everyone to know "the Colts are coming."
